The September Issue: Competing Covers

The September issue is the unofficial “Fashion Bible” in which the next five months of collections and trends will be decided. The nine main fashion magazines– Cosmopolitan, Elle, Glamour, Harper’s Bazaar, Marie Claire, Seventeen, Teen Vogue, Vanity Fair, and (my favorite) Vogue– have premiered their September covers, and each has very different women on them. Cosmopolitan has Pretty Little Liars star Lucy Hale; Elle has singer-songwriter Katy Perry; Glamour has ex-Spice Girl and fashion designer Victoria Beckham as both cover-girl and guest editor; Harper’s Bazaar has No Doubt singer and fashion designer Gwen Stefani; Marie Claire has former Disney star (not sure what she has done since besides the occasional pop song) Miley Cyrus; Seventeen has reality stars and fashion stylists Kendall and Kylie Jenner; Teen Vogue has former Disney star, pop singer, fashion designer, and rising indie movie star Selina Gomez; Vanity Fair released two covers, one has actress Jessica Chastain, and the rising fashion star and Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton; and Vogue has the singer-songwriter and fashion icon Lady Gaga. I personally am the most excited for the September issues of Vogue, Glamour, Elle, and Harper’s Bazaar– I am interested in their cover-girls and their entire magazine as well, especially since I buy these magazines (mostly Vogue) more than any others. I will be purchasing each of these magazines’ September issues and will read them faithfully as well as refer to them until the March issue comes out. Be sure to look out for each of these magazines in the next week or two, they are sure to sellout quicker than normal.

What do you think of each of the September issue covers? Is there one or more that you are more excited for? And which magazine do you think does a better job of displaying the Fall/Winter collections and trends?
