Runway Review: Valentino Fall/Winter 2012/2013 Advertisement Campaign

With a series of elaborate, feminine collections inspired by the forever young Marie Antoinette, Valentino decided to advertise their latest collection with the halls of Versailles as the background. While I like the collection (my mixed emotions were expressed in a previous post), I absolutely love the advertisement campaign. I like that they paid homage to their inspiration, but did not make it obnoxiously obvious by using a more iconic image of Versailles (such as the Hall of Mirrors and Gardens in the recent Dior advertisements). While this advertisement campaign is not my favorite for the season (or even for the Valentino fashion house), it still is well done and adds that edge to the Romanticism of the dresses.

What do you think of Valentino’s new advertisement campaign? And are there any other fashion advertisement campaigns that you think Trend should discuss in later posts?
