Runway Review: Alberta Ferretti Fall/Winter 2012/2013

This was one of my favorite collections for the upcoming Fall season, and the advertisements (see photo 3) continues to be one of my favorites this season as well. The collection was comprised of glamorous, floor-sweeping gowns, tailored feminized menswear, and shear dresses that were by far more vampy than trampy. The dresses moved and had an organic feeling, which is more common in dresses for the Spring/Summer seasons, and did not swallow the models, despite their many layers of fabric. The overall looks were juxtaposed in that the fabrics were borderline promiscuous, but had high and/or conservative necklines and hemlines. As well, the gowns and dresses were opulent in their designs, but the models were styled in a simple, clean look. Overall, I was very impressed with the collection and would wear a majority of the delicate, shear dresses or tailored suits. The collection was styled appropriately, the designs were romantic, and the whole look was modern and young.

What do you think of the Fall/Winter collection from Alberta Ferretti? Do you like it or find it to be over done and outdated?
