Runway Review: Alice & Olivia Fall/Winter 2012/2013

With so many runway shows and parades of models walking down the catwalks, Alice & Olivia remains unique by showing the clothes all together and allowing the audience to interact with the models and touch the clothes (the only other fashion house to do this is Kate Spade). Alice & Olivia is a fashion house that is known for girly, vintage silhouettes, fun prints, and unique details. The best way to describe their clothes is this: they make the adult version of the clothes you imagined for yourself when you were five. The clothes are whimsical, but sophisticated (they neither make you look juvenile nor matronly). For the 2012/2013 Winter season, Alice & Olivia showed a collection of contasts– dark blacks with neon yellows, Schiaparelli pinks, and scarlet reds– and vintage structures. The shorter dresses have the 1960s British Mod styling, while the longer dresses convey the nostalgia of the 1920s and 1930s glamour (think old, classic Hollywood).

I really like the fun, quirky fashion of Alice & Olivia. Like so many other women, I wish I could wear this collection (and still afford my college tuition). What do you think of the new collection from Alice & Olivia? Are there any particular looks from this collection that you like more than any others?
