This Summer is full of superhero and comic book themed movies, but few look as good as the final Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises. This film not only returns to the smooth styling of Christopher Nolan’s previous films (including the first Dark Knight film and Inception) and finally a female villian, which seems odd considering the comic books and animated versions had a plethora of female villians. Recently Warner Bothers Studios released the final movie trailer and photographs from the set of the movie, and I noticed that many of Cat Woman’s (played by Anne Hathaway) costumes are reminiscent of Audrey Hepburn’s role as Holly Golightly in the 1961 classic Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Both characters have the ability to captivate the audience, but cannot be determined as good or bad. Cat Woman may be working with the main evil villian of the movie, Bane, but it looks like she may side with Batman at some point; Holly Golightly is a call-girl and pretends to be wealthy when she is poor, but she has a charismatic attitude and genuine personality. Perhaps Nolan had styled Cat Woman to look like Holly so the audience can register that there are some positive qualities to her personality. As well, both Audrey and Anne began their careers through wholesome roles and slowly moved to more adult roles with an ocean of depth. Below I have included various photographs that compare Anne Hathaway (photos 2 and 4) and Audrey Hepburn (photos 1 and 3) in their respective roles. The first photo of Anne is from the film set while the second photo is from an editorial in American Vogue, and all of the photos from Audrey are from the film. So, what do you think? Do you think Anne Hathaway is as good as an actress as Audrey and/or does she look like her, or do you completely disagree?
